1st Day: Arrival to Naxos
Transfer to the port for departure to the largest island of Cyclades, Naxos. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day free at your disposal. Overnight.
2nd Day: Naxos - City Walking Tour
Departure from Naxos Tours heading towards the Castle. We pass by a grocery store, stop for a while and continue to the southern Paraporti (castle entrance. We arrive to the archaeological museum. After finishing the visit, we go to the small church of Panagia Theoskepasti and then in theCatholic Church We continue with a visit to Capella Casatza and the Church of St. Anthony of Padua. We also visit the kitchen facilities of the old Ursulines school. We head to the Tower Glezos, and the Tower De La Rocca Barozzi which we visit and we go out of the castle through the North Gate. We enter the ” maze ” of the Old Market narrow streets and we arrive at the Epitopio museum. at the Cathedral church’s square. The museum is an innovative idea of highlighting on the spot the excavation which revealed part of the ancient city of Naxos (of Mycenaean and Geometric period) , showing the continuous inhabitation of the area. The walk ends beneath the Naxos trademark, the so-called “Portara.
3rd Day: Naxos - Optional Tour of the Island
Leaving Naxos town, the tour visits the mainland.Galanado is the first village we come across, which offers view to the fertile fields which produce the famous naxian potato. Outside the village rises the Bellonias tower. First stop is the small village Damalas, where we visit a traditional ceramics workshop. In the same village, there is also the possibility to visit a restored traditional olive press. We continue through the fertile valley of Tragaia and passing through age-old olive, plane and oak trees, vines and fruit groves surrounded by towering summits we stop at the village Halki with its mansions and the interesting Byzantine church of Panagia Protothroni. There we visit the citrus distillery which produces the homonymous local liqueur. Then we visit the Byzantine church of Panagia Drosiani, near the village of Moni, a monument of the early Christian period with interesting frescoes, which is considered to be one of the oldest in the Balkans. The church, part of an old monastery, has a unique architectural style, with bare stone-walls, a three-part attic with dome and three adjoining chapels on the northern side with square dome bases on their roofs. Some of the frescoes that have been saved date to the 6th century, while the rest belong to the period between the 11th and 14th centuries. Next stop is Apiranthos or t’Aperathou in local dialect, is built at the foot of Mt. Fanari. Venetian towers, pretty, old two-storey houses, marble paved alleys with arches above them, picturesque squares combine to create a rare atmosphere. Apiranthos has 3 interesting museums. The Archaeological Museum mainly hosts finds of the Proto-Cycladic period, the Geological Museum features some rare and unique items among its approximately 2,000 exhibits, the Natural History Museum includes a collection of the area’s fauna, flora and a small aquarium, while the Folklore Museum displays traditional fabrics, embroidery and tools. Time for lunch at the local tavernas. One the way back, we visit the lush settings of Flerio, Melanes. The area was very important during antiquity. An aqueduct 11 kilometers long was recently discovered, a major engineering project in several historical phases, carrying water to Naxos town ensuring water supply. The ancient archaic marble quarry is also to be visited. There lies the imressive statue of Kouros, so called the “Greek”, 6,4 meters long, dated from the 7th century BC.
4th Day: Naxos - Paros
Breakfast & Transfer to Paros. Arrival and transfer to hotel. Free day at yoour disposal. Overnight.
5th Day: Paros - Island Sightseeing
Join us in a bus tour around the island of Paros. Our comfortable, air-conditioned coach takes us first to Parikia, the capital of Paros. Here, we can visit the famous Byzantine Church of Ekatontapyliani, the church of “The Hundred Doors”. Leaving the church, we wander through the narrow streets of Parikia and visit the old Venetian castle on the southwestern side of the harbor. Pisso Livadi beach, Paros, Cyclades, Greece After Parikia, we head towards the marble quarries of Marathi and on to the highest village on the island, Lefkes. This village was the former capital of Paros, and here we enjoy a short walk through the village to visit the 17th century church of Holy Trinity. Leaving Lefkes, we make our way to the small village of Pisso Livadi, where we have time to enjoy a nice lunch in one of the local taverns, or swim in the clear blue sea on the small sandy beach.
Naoussa harbor, Paros, Cyclades, Greece Our final stop is at the small resort of Naoussa, where we will walk through the narrow streets, admire the whitewashed houses and discover the small harbor area with its dozens of little fishing boats, lying side by side.
6th Day: Paros - Optional Cruise to Antiparos & Depostiko
The trip lasts about 7 hours. During the trip you can visit places unknown to many tourists that visit our islands. Departure is from the port of Antiparos at 10:00 and from the port of Pounda (Paros) at 10:05.After the departure nes café or tea is served, until 11:00.The first stop is half an hour later for swimming, diving and snorkeling. 45 minutes later we continue our exploration of the coasts of Antiparos, in another place. During this change of location, wine, soft drinks and water are served. The third stop is usually at the beach of Despotiko for 2 hours, for swimming and BBQ. At 13:15 snacks with ouzo are served and BBQ starts at 13:30 with souvlaki or fish, a variety of salads, tzatziki and bread. At 14:00 ice cream and fruits follow. On the way back another stop is made at the Epitafios sea cave for swimming and snorkeling .Finally we return about 17:00.
7th Day: Departure from Paros
Breakfast & Transfer to the port for departure back to your home country.
