1st Day : Arrival in Thessaloniki
On arrival you will be met by our assistant and transferred to your hotel by our driver. Rest of the day at leisure.
2nd Day: Thessaloniki Sighseeing
Begin the tour with a panoramic drive around the White Tower
, the main landmarks of the city, the Galerius Arch, the Rotunda monument
, the Old Town (Ano Poli) and the City Walls, from where you will have a marvelous view of Thessaloniki
. Your professional expert guide will provide you with all the information about Thessaloniki’s history old and new as you look at these stately buildings.During the tour, there will be a short stop at Agios Demetrius
Byzantine church which is the most important church of Thessaloniki for religious, historical and artistic reasons. The most famous and interesting part of the church, is the underground ancient "Crypt". The crypt was re-discovered after the fire of 1917 and was finally restored as an exhibition/museum in 1988. According to the Christian Tradition, the saint was imprisoned here and died in 303 A.D. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum which it holds and interprets artifacts from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods, mostly from the city of Thessaloniki but also from the region of Macedonia in general.
3rd Day: Optional Full Day at Meteora
Departure early in the morning for Kalambaka. Arrival at Kalambaka
city and visit the famous Meteora
, geological formations unique in their kind, on which the Monasteries are perched; they were built in the 14th century and they are rich in precious testimonies of Byzantine art. We shall visit 2 of these fabulous monasteries, built high upon the steep rocks. Each monastery owns a vast richness of frescoes and icons. Afterwards, we will make our lunch break, in Kalambaka. Our last stop will be in the Valley of Tempi, and then we return to the city of Thessaloniki.
4th Day: Optional Full Day to Sithonia, Chalkidiki
A great tour that offers you the opportunity to spend a day in the beautiful Sithonia
, the second peninsula of Chalkidiki
! Our first stop would be in N. Marmaras
the most vivid village of Sithonia. There you will have free time to walk around or have a coffee and discover the reason why N. Marmaras is a very popular tourist destination. During your trip you will see the coast of the peninsula and you will have the opportunity to take pictures of the spectacular view. Your final stop is in a stunning sandy beach. Here you will enjoy the sun and the sea, swim at the clear crystal blue waters, have fun on the beach and enjoy a delicious lunch to a beautiful tavern of the village. Early in the afternoon you will be back in Thessaloniki full of experiences and beautiful memories.
5th Day: Optional Full Day to Mount Olympus
Early in the morning departure to Dion situated at the footsteps of the famous Mount Olympus, the mythical home of the Gods, where Phillip II came to celebrate his victories and his son Alexander the Great offered rich sacrifices to the Gods before leaving into the legendary expedition to Asia. Visit of the archaeological site and of the museum. Continue your day trip to the traditional village of Litochoro, one of the most beautiful villages close to the mountain and a very popular destination for those wishing to climb Mount Olympus. Free time for a tour of this picturesque village and for a walk in the valley of Enipea, on the low slopes of the mountain. Return in the afternoon back to Thessaloniki full of great moments and memories.
6th Day: Optional Full Day to Pella, Edessa & Vergina
Departure early in the morning for the village of Pella
, the birthplace
of Alexander the Great
, and visit the archaeological site and the museum. The excavations have brought to light the interesting findings of the ancient city, exhibited at the local museum. You will certainly be impressed by the outstanding mosaic floors that used to decorate the city's grand mansions – the most famous are the ones depicting the Abduction of Helen
, Rapture, the Amazonomachy (the battle of Amazons), and the Deer Hunt. Continue your day trip towards Edessa
and stop for a visit of the park of the famous waterfalls. Departure to Vergina
, the ancient capital of the Macedonian Kingdom, where nowadays is one of the most beautiful museums of Greece. Free time for lunch. Visit of the museum, which contains the royal tomb of King Phillip the 2nd, Alexander the Great’s father, along with golden and other artefacts of an incredible beauty and value. Return to Thessaloniki late in the afternoon.
7th Day: Departure from Thessaloniki
You will be met by our assistant at your hotel and transferred to the airport by our driver for your departure flight.
